ImpressCMS 2.0 Alpha 1 ready for testing

The ImpressCMS project presents its first core release for the new year : ImpressCMS 2.0 Alpha 1.

Between updates for the ImpressCMS 1.3 and ImpressCMS 1.2 branches, work has also been done on the next major release. The first results of that work, like removing the compatibility functionality with the 1.2 branch and some file relocations, are now available in this first alpha release.

This week, ImpressCMS is celebrating its 4th birthday. We have achieved quite a bit during the last years, and we can be proud of that.

ImpressCMS 1.2.7 and 1.3.1 - New Stable (Final) Releases

We are publishing stable releases for both branches of ImpressCMS suitable for use on live sites - the 1.2 branch (LTS, for long term support) and the 1.3 branch.

Everyone is advised to update to one of these latest versions - they contain security updates that will protect your sites from malicious attacks.

Both releases also provide updates to some of the external libraries used (jQuery, TCPDF, PHPMailer, PHPOpenID, just to name a few). They both also have improvements to consistently handling passwords and filtering user-supplied data. YubiKey as authentication for ImpressCMS websites

YubiKey is a One Time Password solution. The biggest benefit from this authentication is, that you no longer need to enter your password manually. How does it work? If a website or another system the YubiKey Login supports, then the user data will be validated via the web service of the company Yubico.

The authentication in an ImpressCMS website is now easier, it has developed a module from our developer @madfish now. The included help file can be declared as the module installed in just two steps.

Requirements: a YubiKey, a server who "curl" supports and a client ID with API Key. Even setting up the IDs is described in detail in the help file. The two required IDs can be entered easily within the module settings.

New free theme: dens

I am very glad introducing my third free Impresscms theme: dens.

It is modern, nice and has pretty features. Some of them are JQuery based; another uses the great Impresscms possibilities. It works on 1.2.x and 1.3 releases.

ImpressCMS Community website upgraded

During this weekend, the ImpressCMS Community website was upgraded to a newer version. End-users will notice that the responsiveness of the site has gone up, and also that we now use the fancy AJAX redirect for user feedback.

new admin theme and new icon set

A few days ago we added a new theme for you, which could consistently get positive votes. Today we want to publish a new theme for the administration (ACP). The admin theme is characterized by small fonts and small icons. This was fully intended, because it is so perfectly suited for mobile devices.

An eternal scrolling after installing, uninstalling, or updating a module does not apply to this admin theme! With the small size overall of 65kb, the Admin Theme is very nimble. A new design has the top menu also received. All tables have been from an ugly "cellpadding" and "cellspacing" liberated and the input fields have received a new face.

Usage: Simply copy the theme to the folder "themes" and with the main settings you can swich to set the "Admin Theme" now. We recommend the middle blocks in the organization "Admin Center Block - Center", there is this view on the PC and mobile devices most useful.

The theme is under GPL and can now be downloaded via our download area from the German community.

As a further option can also take the new images-set (new icons for the administration). There are new icons who suited perfectly to the new admin theme. This images-set is not compulsory, but it looks much better. To activate please read the documentation into the ZIP file. The icons are also on build under GPL and can be downloaded here.

new and fresh business Theme

Fresh designs for ImpressCMS are currently in demand. ImpressCMS can be used as a business site too, therefor a new design names "cool_biz". An attempt was made to create an easy as possible Theme in the code, but it dispenses with many new features. If you dont need a function, you can erase on the "theme.html" quick and fast. The Theme has just 3 colors (white, gray, orange), so that it seems simple and fresh.
