7 years ago (on 9 January 2008, to be exact) the first beta release of ImpressCMS was announced and since then we have released 26 versions of ImpressCMS - from 1.0.0 to 1.3.7! We are averaging around 4 releases a year, which is a respectable number, considering the work that goes into them. Currently, we're still supporting 2 main branches - 1.2 and 1.3 - while developing in our 2.0 branch.
Over the course of the year, we switched our hosting to Siteground, and they have been a very good partner for us. We also did a quick redesign and relaunch of the Addons site to prepare for a merging of our different properties into a single, updated site.
We had 2 related vulnerability reports we addressed this year, which has prompted us to be even more diligent in our security efforts. We have joined oCert Security Response and are working with another vendor that will provide us with security scans based on community support (watch for an upcoming announcement).
All-in-all, year 7 was a good year and we're looking ahead to an even better year in 2015!

A critical security flaw was discovered in Git clients and patched this week. This does not affect any of our repositories hosted on Assembla, but can impact your local clones of the repository. The vulnerability concerns repositories or clones that reside on file systems that are case-insensitive or case-normalizing (like OSX using HFS+ or Windows, whether it uses NTFS or FAT).

The ImpressCMS project has been invited to joined the oCert security response initiative. As a project that is paranoid about security, this was a logical step. We also consider it a confirmation of our very good security track record up till now.

One of the top tenets of ImpressCMS is to be a secure platform for your websites. In response to a recent CVE report, additional validation and sanitation of user has been implemented in the 1.2 and 1.3 releases. Once again, we were aided by Pedro Ribeiro of Agile Information Security Ltd. in testing the patches for this issue.
If you ever discover a vulnerability or are uncertain about the security of ImpressCMS, please use our Security Issue Report form to let us know.

It has been 2 1/2 years since an update has been released for SimplyWiki, and several things have been added or improved since then. Now, all those changes have been tested and validated and a new final release is ready for you!
SimplyWiki can be used in many ways - to create your own wiki with built in rich text (WYSIWYG) editors, to maintain a simple website, and to create content for specific groups of people. It supports multiple languages (even right-to-left languages), versioning, and work flows for document creation and approvals. You can see it in action at wiki.impresscms.org and www.simplywiki.org

Siteground, our hosting sponsor, is celebrating their 10th anniversary. For that, they offer special promotions for any new hosting contracts. But don't wait too long, as these offers are only valid until the end of today (CET timezone).

2014 has started! The ImpressCMS team wishes everyone a good start of the new year, and we look forward to a new year in which we will support you with help and advice in your ImpressCMS projects.
As you might have guessed, there are many things on our list of things we want to achieve during the upcoming year, but we'll focus our attention first on reviewing the structure and design of the website and on releasing more patches for ImpressCMS 1.3.5.
Happy New Year
