ImpressCMS 1.1 Goes Beta! Published by Tom on 2008/8/10 (2267 reads)
The ImpressCMS project are proud to announce our latest release, ImpressCMS 1.1 Beta

This is an important stage in the development of ImpressCMS as we step closer towards a second stable release this time with more features than ever before. Because of this, it's important that you test this beta release and report any bugs you find so we can squash them quickly and release the stable version in a timely manner.

Whats New in 1.1?

ImpressCMS brings many exciting new features to the table:

+ Built in content manager.
+ OpenID - OpenID feature information.
+ Symlink - Symlink feature information.
+ Registration by invitation.
+ New password encryption with Salt for added security.
+ RTL language support.
+ Administrate Groups Privileges Group privilege feature Information.

This isn't even half of the new additions! You can check out the rest by Clicking Here.

Whats changed since the last Alpha release?

# Upgrade script 1.0 --> 1.1beta. (stranger)
# Upgrade script XOOPS 2.2 & 2.3 --> ImpressCMS. (stranger)
# New warning to let users know about protector with credits to GIJOE. (stranger)
# HTML Purifier is now properly using the trust path to create its cache data (Vaughan/malanciault)
# Fixed Security Vulnerabilty (http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/30330) in modules/system/admin.php (Vaughan/Rodrigo/Wtravel)

This is by no means a conclusive list, full details of changes can be found within our wiki.

Where can I get the files?

As a community we urge our members to test the latest releases but we must also remind you that this should be done in a local test environment because a beta release is not classed as stable and as such should not be used within a production environment. We also recommend if you are upgrading that you make a back-up of your existing database and files.

You can download the full package or patch files from SourceForge - Click Here

Fresh Install

If you are running a new installation or prefer to use the full package then grab either the impresscms_1.1_beta1.tar.gz or impresscms_1.1_beta1.zip file. (If you are upgrading via the full package, then don't forget not to over write your mainfile.php or at least make a copy of the details required).

Upgrading

If you are updating from ImpressCMS 1.0 you can download the upgrade package but first of all remember to make a backup of your database and files!

Download xoops-or-impresscms_1.0-to-impresscms_1.1_beta1.tar.gz or xoops-or-impresscms_1.0-to-impresscms_1.1_beta1.zip and follow the instructions contained within the package to upgrade.

icms 1.1 is a new experience not just for users but for module developers. Symlink is a powerful tool, custom tags looks promissing to. And we have a framework that will help to build modules with less code and effort. Documentation in wiki was also very welcome. Can´t wait to see how a 'icms only' module looks like!
Thank you for this wonder.

it logs me off

The Wiki pages are a totally different system run an another open source project called Media Wiki (the guys that make the wikipedia). Both systems do not share log in credentials.

This is why it appears that you've been logged off, when the case is you've actually never been logged into the wiki site. If you wish to contribute to the wiki then you will need to register on that website seperately, this is the same for the Addon's site also.

The main features page you link to is finished, but the individual feature pages are not (the red links are pages that haven't been written, yet)

We're working on it.
