ImpressCMS 1.1 RC1 is Released
The ImpressCMS project is proud to announce our latest release, ImpressCMS 1.1 RC1

This is an important stage in the development of ImpressCMS as we step closer towards a final stable release - this time with more features than ever before. Because of this, it's important that you test this release candidate and report any bugs you find so we can squash them quickly and release the stable version in a timely manner.

Whats New in 1.1?

ImpressCMS brings many exciting new features to the table:

+ Built in content manager.
+ OpenID - OpenID feature information.
+ Symlink - Symlink feature information.
+ Registration by invitation.
+ New password encryption with Salt for added security.
+ RTL language support.
+ Administrate Groups Privileges Group privilege feature Information.

This isn't even half of the new additions! You can check out the rest by Clicking Here.

What's changed since the Beta release?

* agree box before upgrading to make sure of a backup. (stranger)
* added password can't contain username to pass check in admin edit user form. (vaughan)
* default template form usable by core feature or any modules - system_default_form.html (malanciault)
* new function to list all fonts (stranger)
* new function to generate pdfs (stranger)
* implementing beforePreviewTarea and afterPreviewTarea preload events (malanciault)

This is by no means a conclusive list, full details of changes can be found within our wiki.

Where can I get the files?

As a community we urge our members to test the latest releases but we must also remind you that this should be done in a local test environment because a release candiate is not classed as stable and as such should not be used within a production environment. We also recommend if you are upgrading that you make a back-up of your existing database and files.

You can download the full package or patch files from SourceForge - Click Here

Fresh Install

If you are running a new installation or prefer to use the full package then grab either the impresscms_1.1_rc1.tar.gz or impresscms_1.1_rc1.zip file. (If you are upgrading via the full package, then don't forget not to over write your mainfile.php or at least make a copy of the details required).

Upgrading

If you are updating from ImpressCMS 1.0 you can download the upgrade package but first of all remember to make a backup of your database and files!

Download xoops-or-impresscms_1.0-to-impresscms_1.1_rc1.tar.gz or xoops-or-impresscms_1.0-to-impresscms_1.1_rc1.zip and follow the instructions contained within the package to upgrade.

I had some problems updating, partly because my ftp program changemodded some directories, but also because I had dutch selected as language?
The updater came in a loop, kept trying to log me in for the first time, could not update the system module.
I had roll back to 1.0 version, set preferences to english language and had to remove the dutch admin.php file (in cache)
Then I could update easy.
I notice now some strange characters (has to do with utf8 I think), for instance in the word olèdrion (http://impress.amevita.eu)

I'm fine, thank you my friend.

I don't know what exactly happened, I found out that multilanguage was set to 'no' in the process of updating.
I changed that to yes now, and I have no more these strange characters.

Re: ImpressCMS 1.1 RC1 is Released
at last... (grats for the release, a bit late, but on line)

Is this OOPS bug is fixed ?
site built with utf-8 without byte of mark, to return from backend.php anything else but no UTF-8
http://xoops.cmsbg.info/
http://xoops.cmsbg.info/backend.php

hmmm, 1.0.2 RC2 still can't handle UTF-8 (http://impress.cmsbg.info/modules/news/), wondering how this is "solved" (if is it) in 1.1 RC1 (will try out this days) and 1.0.2 RC2 backend.php generates internal server error 500 ?

Except the new changes, no one talk about the main problem UTF-8, which is present from 2.0.18 to 2.3.0 RC3 (partial solved, at least 2.3.0RC3 can store and display it as utf-8).

My post made several months ago is still without any movement (at least I don't receive any notifications....

Anyway grats again for the release, hope to see at least one of the 2 OOPSes fully Unicode UTF-8 compatible

Xoops ?

Talk about backend.php, this interests me because I'm using as UTF-8, but I think perhaps the problem is another in backend. You can give more information?

Quote:

http://impress.cmsbg.info/backend.php

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@impress.cmsbg.info and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

A quick look here I can understand what you're talking, but in my case this is not occurring. I will test this module installing the news. Today I am only with the content manager.

hummm, I think that many changes were made and believe that the installation is made on tables with the encoding UTF-8 should not have trouble.

Re: ImpressCMS 1.1 RC1 is Released
icms 1.0.x or 1.1.x does not have a file called backend.php, it was removed during alpha stage at 1.0

impresscms uses a different file & method for RSS. (which i think is what backend.php is for, can't remember it's been that long)
