Commiserations to eZPublish and XOOPS, but congratulations on making the finals it's the taking part that counts and not always the winning.

2008 Most Promising Open Source CMS

This was our category and we felt proud to make it into the finals, we always said it didn't matter if we win or not, it's the taking part that really matters and the fact we'd made it that far. We just wanted a fair vote from our commity and that we feel we had.

Silver Stripe took first place this year followed by CMS Made Simple who have now taken a leading position in two categories, thats fantastic work guys, congratulations on that!

We were joint third with another amazing project, MiaCMS.

Overall Open Source CMS Award

We're still awaiting the results of this category which will be announced by Packt Publishing tomorrow, although we're not in this category we will make an announcement with the results.

We'd just like to take this opportunity to again thank Packt Publishing for this honour and also to congratulate all the Open Source projects taking part in this years Packt Publishing Awards. Open source is about freedom and choice amongst many other things and this competition does wonders for getting amazing projects seen.

Re: ImpressCMS - One Of The Most Promising!
I'm glad to see that respect is being given where it is due. In some way or another, I've worked with most of the above systems, either in testing or in production. All of which are outstanding systems in their own rights, and are well deserving of their recognition. ImpressCMS is in very good company to be listed among such systems.

That this community has banded together and has achieved such recognition in less than a year is nothing short of Impressive!

Kudos to all of the MVPs and OSS Projects who made these lists this year. These are the people driving innovation and who are paving the way for freedom in the web application space.

Congrats!

Don't forget PR & Marketing Giba ;-)
I would just like to add a note from Packt Publishing, this was issued to me via E-mail from Packt Publishing:
Quote:
ImpressCMS came joint third! The judges were really impressed with the large amount of developer work going with the CMS and that it's heading in the right direction following the fork. They expect big things :) The judges found it a really difficult process this year and as such it was difficult to split ImpressCMS and MiaCMS, with you finishing joint third.

Re: ImpressCMS - One Of The Most Promising!

yes great work everyone :) It's been great working with you all & learning from each other. I'm impressed that we achieved this in light of the competition. MiaCMS being a mambo fork etc. and usually we have fell behind the mambo/joomla statistics with xoops, so it's a good achievement overall to be joint 3rd with such a powerful system to start with.

Silverstripe is very clean from what i saw of it's demo, i haven't installed it at all, but none the less, the demo site was very tidy & i liked some of the admin section, it was presentable and easy to navigate.  I certainly think we can improve ourselves by taking notes of our strong and weak points, and then build up on those like the other CMS's have.

3rd place has made my year so far, it's an achievement that we have all worked so hard for.
