ImpressCMS 1.2.3 Beta with PHP 5.3 support

The ImpressCMS Team has just released ImpressCMS 1.2.3 beta. Since the initial release of ImpressCMS 1.2, PHP 5.3 support has steadily gained ground in hosting solutions. Based upon user feedback, the ImpressCMS team decided not to wait for ImpressCMS 1.3 in order to support PHP 5.3 officially.

This release is a Beta release, meaning it is meant for testing purposes. It is not for use on a live site!

What's New in ImpressCMS 1.2.3 ?

  • The most important change is official PHP5.3 compliance for the core modules and libraries. Note that modules might need adaptations to work in PHP 5.3. That is beyond the control of the core team.
  • Fixed: search pagination and page title
  • Improved: session security for the installation proces
  • Improved: migration of images in the imagemanager during an upgrade from ImpressCMS 1.1
  • Improved: use of smarty variables
  • Fixed : search functionality issues
  • Security : possible SQL injection vulnerability

A more detailed overview is available in our Trac release notes for ImpressCMS 1.2.3.

Where do I get it?

You can download the latest release from our file release system on SourceForge. The download packages allows you to either do a fresh installation, or upgrade from an earlier version of ImpressCMS or XOOPS.

Test the package

The more people test the beta, the shorter the release cycle will be. Please help us in testing the ImpressCMS 1.2.3 beta in your environment, and report any problems or bugs using the bug report form.

What else do I need?

This is the first release of ImpressCMS to officially support PHP 5.3.x. With this release, we are moving farther into only supporting stable versions of PHP5.  The current stable release of PHP is 5.2.11 and 5.2.7 has been removed from distribution because of several critical flaws.

  • PHP: 5.2.0+ (5.2.7 is NOT recommended, and 5.3.0+ is now officially supported)
  • MySQL: MySQL server 4.1.0+ - With UTF-8 Support
  • Web server: Any server supporting the required PHP version (Apache highly recommended).
  • Special characters require UTF-8 support from hosting providers.
  • 16MB PHP Memory

How do I upgrade or install?
