ImpressCMS Translations now on Transifex

ImpressCMS Translations now on Transifex
Like many other open source projects, the ImpressCMS project is now managing its translations on the Transifex localization service.
Have a look at the core project on transifex or the project setup for modules.
Don't hesitate to sign up as a translator.

ImpressCMS is multi-language from the core. That means you can enter content in multiple languages at any location on your site, and the system will take care of displaying te appropriate language.
When it came to the translation of the user interface texts, that procedure was quite time-consuming and involved fiddling with a large number of text files. Not something you can expect your standard translator to be able to do.
Also, the project management didn't have any overview of the availability and the completeness of specific languages.

Those two areas will be improved by the switch to Transifex: after logging on, translators will receive a list of files that still need translations. Choosing any of those files will offer a nice and easy web interface to do the translation directly online. A distinct improvement.
Doing it that way allows the project to see where extra translations are needed, which translations should be complete for a specific version, and who is participating in which language.

Become a translator
We need as many translators as we can get. This will lighten the load on everbody, and the peer review will raise the quality level of the translations considerably. Translators can login/register on Transifex, and ask access to a specific language on the impresscms project.

Little explanation:
If you plan to use old translations, made for ImpressCMS 1.0/1.2, be sure to convert it to UTF-8, before to upload it to Transifex. This can be done simple with Notepad +

Hi David, would you please add me as translator for Persian and Dutch?
I'll PM you my username!

Thanks in advance!

PS. this is really a good idea, plus it saves the translators lots of times.

Without or with doesn't matter
XOOSLA by catzwolf and XOOPS are fully utf-8 encoded, not any problems with that, not with TX, nor the CMS cores.

And the final output from TX is fully UTF-8 encoded, UTF-8 without BOM was for the time when there was only XOOPS 2.0 and PHP 4.....
