ImpressCMS 2.0.0 Alpha 2 now available

The ImpressCMS team is proud to present the second alpha release for ImpressCMS 2.0.0. This release is the first release since the move to Git, and contains several major changes compared to the previous alpha release.

This release is now ready to test, and depending on the amount of feedback we get, a new alpha release could be coming in one or two weeks. Let's take out the test sheet and make this a rock-solid release!

The complete list of changes can be found on the changelog on Assembla.

The full changelog is available on Assembla

New UI System

MrTheme has done a wonderful job in reviewing the structure and organisation of the Javascript and the CSS used. More information in his blog post.

System module refactor to IPF

The system module is now refactored to use the IPF standards as much as possible, thanks to skenow. Some work still needs to be done, but this is a major step in the right direction.

Translation reorganisation

We've gone through the translation files and started to eliminate duplication and had a good look at the file structure. This should result in less duplicates in the translations and a more logical organisation

Core modules

This alpha release does not contain any core modules yet, as we want to focus on testing the core changes, which have been extensive. Once the core is validated, we can turn our attention to the core modules in one of the next alpha releases.

Attention: This is an Alpha Release!

Alpha releases are solely for development and testing purposes. Those releases can be as unstable as can be. Bugs can be fixed during this stage but we will most likely use the Beta stage to fix bugs.
An Alpha release is not suitable for use on a live site.

Module Testing

Please test your favorite modules for compatibility, and report on the result of those tests (either working AND non working) in the appropriate forum.

The file can be downloaded from the Development releases page

Many thanks for this alpha release!

Just downloaded the package and installed it without any issues.
After entering the Control Panel, which seems to be a little narrow, I tried to change some settings (Preferences > General Settings).
Changing the local time results in a blank page. Turning on the debugger shows this:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function icms_float() in ....\libraries\icms\core\Object.php on line 523

Further, I installed imLinks 1.13 and noticed the module icon isn't displayed in the control panel.

which seems to be a little narrow

Agreed, I hope to rearrange the default blocks while working on the installer.

I am partial to this:

We are continuing to make progress! We need feedback!

There are a LOT of issues that still show up on our list of items to validate they have been addressed. Please take a few minutes to start with a clean install of this release and confirm that all the items set to 'Test' have been resolved.
